Madison Regatta’s 71st Running will return for 2021
April 8, 2021 – Madison, IN…… The Madison Regatta will return this year for its 71st running on the mighty Ohio River, in historic Madison, Indiana. The 3-day event, July 2nd – 4th, 2021 will host the APBA Gold Cup with two of the fastest boat associations known, H1Unlimited and Grand Prix America (GPA). This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Miss Madison’s win in 1971.
Madison Regatta President, Greg Thorpe expressed “The board and I are excited to be able to bring the Madison Regatta event to our beautiful riverfront this year considering the hard year we all had. This will be great for our community as well as the many loyal race fans. We are eternally grateful for the financial support of the Jefferson County Board of Tourism (JCBT), City of Madison, and Visit Madison, Inc. as well as our presenting sponsor Nucor Madison, among countless others”. Dean Rojas, President of GPA expressed “its pure excitement for us at Grand Prix America to be a part of the Madison Regatta and all its historical glory, we look forward to getting back on the water in Madison, Indiana!”
City of Madison Mayor Bob Courtney added, “It is ironic that we find ourselves in a similar situation as Mayor Don Vaughn was in 50 years ago searching for ways to bring the Regatta to the City of Madison. The Madison Regatta is an iconic event with deep community roots but even more so, it is an economic driver for the community’s tourism economy and we found it very compelling to work with the Regatta Board and its volunteers to join with the Jefferson County Board of Tourism to financially support the event this year”.
Also returning is one of Indiana’s fastest growing music festivals, the Roostertail Music Festival. Music will begin Friday night after the annual Regatta/City of Madison Parade on Main Street at Bicentennial Park. Saturday will also boast an evening filled with music. The line-up for Roostertail will be posted soon and can be found online at www.MadisonRegatta.com/music/.
Tickets are now available for purchase online. This year’s general admission ticket will gain admittance in both the Madison Regatta and Roostertail Music Festival. Now through April 30th general admission tickets are $30; May 1st through June 26th tickets are $40; and beginning June 27th tickets are $50 and will only be available at selected locations and/or the gate.
