Miss Elam the U16 is qualifying right now his first lap speed is 151.809mph Villwock now powering up the backstretch his second lap looks to be a little bit quicker. The speed on the second lap is 158.027mph. The fastest we have seen here this afternoon. The boat ride looks very smooth as always from the Elam camp. Villwock is now taking some timing runs as he takes a few extra laps.

Next out on the water is the U5 formulaboats.com driven by Jeff Bernard is now taking his turn on the qualifying ladder. Bernard blew his boat over last weekend in Evansville and had to have it repaired for this weekends running of the Indiana Governors Cup. His second lap is 149.090mph.  Third lap is 149.882mph. So each time around he bettered his speed.

The U13 Spirit of Detroit with J Michael Kelly driving is now on the track. This boat has won the Detroit Gold Cup over a perod of three decades. Kelly is from the Tacoma Washington area. His first lap was 144.810mph. that allows him to be in the running for Sundays' race. Second lap is 146.775mph. Lap three checks in at 148.473 and it appears that a strut support has came loose on the back of the horizontal stabilizers.

The U25 Superior Racing is now on the course. Dr Ken Muscatel driving for this team that he also owns. This boat was leased from Jim Harvey and started life as a two wing configuration. Getting a little loose as he comes down the front straighaway starting his first run on the clock. First lap speed is. 140.269mph. Lap two appears to be a little quicker as he comes under the bridge. The speed 140.576mph.

The U10 Miss Ahearn Rentals is now on the course. David Bryant driving his rookie year for Kim Gregorys' team.  The team took last year off to do some refurbishing on this boat. Bryant is really showing himself self proud as he is now into his second race for this team. His first lap speed is 147.449mph. Taking a wide turn to keep his boat speed up his second lap is 149.310mph.  His thrid lap 150.310 mph.

The fastest piston powered boat in the world Ed Coopers U3 Miss Chrysler Jeep is now being pushed away from the dock. The thunder of this Allison powered boat echoinng through the hills. Jimmy King doing the driving duties. The motor used in this craft was used during the WW2 on P51 Mustang fighters. King a native of Michigan is in his third year as driver of this boat. First lap speed. 147.669mph. His second lap speed is 134.981 miles per hour. King evidently happy with his first lap qualifying speed. Dropping the speed as he brings it back into the pits.
