For those hydroplane enthusiasts who were hoping to see their favorite sport back in Tennessee this season, you’ll have to wait one year.
Sam Cole, Chairman of the American Boat Racing Association, officially announced that the Nashville races have been postponed one year. This year, the Nashville race was scheduled for May 2-4.
"Yes, we are disappointed that we will not race in Nashville this year but we all felt it would be better to make sure the race or races we plan on putting on the water are structured properly from the start," said Cole. "Rick Bowles has been working hard to get this race going but we still have a long way to go to ensure a good show for the teams and the spectators."
Cole hopes the Nashville race will get the green light for 2009.
"We have the best fleet of boats in over 40 years and they are ready to put on a great show," said Cole. "We just need to make sure when we put on an event that everyone is prepared."
The ABRA unlimited hydroplane season will kick off on the last weekend in June in Evansville, Indiana.
